K-field (Simulation mathematics), an undefined, two-dimensional, non-linear field where past and future forces interact at irregular intervals. Shallow Water generates this k-field by randomly modulating a short time delay to create unexpected shifts in pitch. The result is this non cyclical vibrato/chorus/flanger-type thing favouring old tape flavours.

How 'deep' can shallow be?The most emotional pedal, it says. Old tape flavours... well, I get a sense of melancholy thinking this gem was not there 30 years or so ago (I'm getting old). What a piece of work this is, uncomparable to anything. Of course, it's the random modulation that does the trick, the way rate, damp, depth and lpg work together and interfere. But what is the result? Truly out of the world sounds with whatever signal you drive through it! The pedal tells you: 'you do your stuff, I'll do mine', it interacts unexpectedly with pitch changes, and dynamics as well, so as having the feeling you are working together with a mind of its own - changing your perspective of how music should sound.
I've been playing for hours with sounds from guitar, electric piano samples, strings, percussion and it blew my mind strumming fat pulsewave chords from my Prophet12 through the SW into a true doubler (tc electronic Mimiq) with a bit of reverb... wall of sound, smashing!
It's one of the best new ideas that has come up in the world of modulation. It's the deepest shallow water I've been swimming in. And as ever, smoothly and quickly delivered by Andy!

amazing pedal! Great service!i had tried a friend's Fairfield Circuitry 'Shallow Water' a little while back and have been wanting one ever since. The non linearity of the effect is fantastic, it brings accidents into your parts in a much welcome way (in my book anyway!). The pedal is very intuitive and flexible. You just click it in and it sounds awesome, and the more you tweak it, the awesomest it gets. Ok, it's one of those pedals that's on the pricier side, but that's for a reason: it's just better built and just kicks more ass than cheaper pedals.
