The final chapter in the Tamura-mod saga, the TS808-TMv.2 brings countless hours of painstaking research and development to a thunderous crescendo.

The TS808-TMv.2 offers a unique spin on the classic Tubescreamer tone, dumping the mid-hump in favor of a bottom-heavy thump that moves more air and adds more hair to your tone.

Originally conceived for a Japanese customer in search of an authentic “Texas Blues” sound, the v.2 is the Tubescreamer for players that don’t like Tubescreamers.

Where the v.1 flattened out the 808’s frequency response and the TS-9TM focused on fine-tuning the (in)famous “mid-hump”, the v.2 throws all pre-conceived TS notions to the wind to create a powerful tone tool.

The TS808v.2 was optimized to accentuate and articulate the sound of single-coil pickups.

The low and lower-midrange frequencies have been raised by precise percentages to provide more power while improving responsiveness to pick attack.

Additional even-order harmonics were added in the high-frequency range for balance and punch in the upper fretboard register.

These changes simultaneously increase output level while improving low and high frequency response when the Drive control is turned down, allowing the v.2 to be used more effectively as a semi-clean booster.

The most complex of the Tamura-mod models, the v.2 features no less that eleven capacitor type and value changes, all using specific values at tight tolerances to assure consistent operation.

The v.2 also features the “Magic” IC discovered by Tamura-san as well as NOS Toshiba 1S1588 diodes that were used in several production runs of vintage Tube Screamers from the late 70’s and early 80’s.

All these elements add up to an extremely musical drive pedal that is fun and inspirational to play through.
